Speed Racer is a hard game to review. While it's *sigh* ANOTHER movie tie-in, recently people have been making good ones. I know everyone thought Burnout Legends was disappointing, so I can happily, and sadly say this is the closest you'll ever get to seeing a good burnout clone on the DS.

So let's begin with the basics, and there's a LOT to be explained. The game starts as you're average racing game. You begin with a standing start and start speeding up. Burnout clone 1: There is a boost feature for when you smash and bash other cars, or do stunts. Burnout clone 2: You get rewarded for smashing up cars with "fans" that you use to unlock drivers, paint jobs and new game modes. Yes Yes Yes, R is the boost button...but that doesn't matter. Pressing the B button will make you jump so you can flip. You're car will automatically go off ramps and then you can use the D-Pad to flip and roll your car exactly how you want to. There are half pipes around, and you can flip off these. If ether 1. Your car is grinding the wall, 2. Your car is facing forwards, or 3. You want to unleash your "Spin Attack" You can press X to ether turn round, spin to the middle of the track or do a spin attack. Then there is car-fu, where you press B when it is above another player, and then you are subjected to a game of DDR by pressing X or Y when it comes to the center and then do a "Jump Attack" You can also do a drift that will give you boost. Finally, if your boost bar fills up you turn into a mini bullet bill. This game could easily be called "Teaching You Where The DS Buttons Are"! It seems complex but it's easy.

The graphics are stunning, to say the least, and look fantastic, so is the sound, but the music needs improving. The bottom screen shows a meter of where your car is compared to everyone else, and is barely innovative. It also shows you're fans, and time. The gameplay is incredible, and is clearly the best burnout style game on the DS. Maybe the handling needs improving. I havent seen the movie but it looks like all you favourite charicters are there too.

I'm cutting this review short. If you want screenshots, info or more explnation, do not hesitate to ask me by replying. This game gets 90%
"Like parachuting off the empire state building and landing on a big sheet of bubble wrap."

Ask me to review any game for the DS, and i'll do it. See ya!
